Mumbai man arrested after he watches 17-year-old daughter bathe

The girl saw someone peeping from the narrow gap in the bathroom door and was shocked to see that it was her father.

Mumbai: A 39-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, for allegedly watching his 17-year-old daughter bathe at their residence in Andheri (east).

According to local police, the incident took place on November 29. As per allegations, the incident took place at 10:30am when the girl was alone with her father. She was bathing, when she saw someone peep from a narrow gap in the bathroom door. She looked into the gap and was shocked to see that it was her father. She then left the house and went to stay with her grandmother.

The girl approached the local police and lodged an FIR against her father, which was registered under section 354 (sexual harassment) and section 12 (sexual harassment) under Protection of Children from the Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

“After ascertaining facts we went ahead with the arrest. The accused was produced before a sessions court where he was remanded to police custody for four days,” an officer from the local police station said.

“We will ensure that the accused does not try to pressurize the victim through others. We will try and record her statements before a woman magistrate, to strengthen our case. We are recording statements of the accused and probing if he has any prior criminal record,” the police official said.
