Mumbai mechanic steps on glass shard by accident, bleeds to death
Based on an Aadhaar card found on the body, Mumbai police identified the man as Indrajeet Saroj, locally known as Raju
A 43-year-old mechanic bled to death on a footpath near Oshiwara Park after he accidentally stepped on a glass shard late on Saturday. Police said his body was found at a spot where traders usually sell mirrors.
At 8.19 am, the police control room received a call regarding a man found lying in a pool of blood on Link Road. Based on an Aadhaar card found on the body, police identified the man as Indrajeet Saroj, locally known as Raju. They said he is a resident of Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh.
“It is difficult to ascertain what happened, but evidence at the spot led us to suspect that Saroj was in an inebriated condition and accidentally stepped or fell on the glass. He might have also been searching for a place to sleep,” said an officer from Oshiwara police station.
Subhash Khanvilkar, senior inspector of the Oshiwara police station said this did not appear to be a case of murder. “Apart from a deep cut on his foot, there are no other injuries on his body. We have registered a case of accidental death. However, investigations are ongoing,” he said.
