Mumbai: Paid in old notes by contractor, workers file police complaint

Sanitation workers who were paid their wages by a contractor in the scrapped Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes lodged a police complaint on Friday.

The workers of solid waste management department of the civic body BMC submitted a written complaint to Borivali Police against the contractor who had paid wages to them in the now useless Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.

The entire matter is civil in nature and hence it has been referred to the department concerned, police said.

Police asked these workers to resolve the issue by meeting the relevant authorities.
