The bypoll in Palus-Kadegaon seat was necessitated after the death of Kadam’s father and senior Congress leader Patangrao Kadam.

After being elected unopposed from Palus-Kadegaon assembly constituency of Sangli district in western Maharashtra region, Congress nominee Vishwajeet Kadam took oath as the new member of the state assembly at the state legislature on Wednesday.

The bypoll in Palus-Kadegaon seat was necessitated after the death of Kadam’s father and senior Congress leader Patangrao Kadam. Congress nominated Kadam.

Kadam got elected unopposed after BJP candidate Sangram Singh Deshmukh withdrew his nomination. Shiv Sena backed Kadam and three independent candidates also withdrew
their nominations in favour of Kadam.
