Pune’s deputy mayor Navnath Kambale dies of cardiac arrest
Kambale was known as a staunch Ambedkarite and was associated with Republican Party of India from college days
RPI leader and deputy mayor of Pune, Navnath Kambale, 50, died of a cardiac arrest early this morning.
Kambale , who had stepped out for a morning walk, fainted and fell, according to his friends.
He was taken to a private hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Kambale was known as a staunch Ambedkarite and was associated with Republican Party of India from college days.
He was a close aide of Union Minister Ramdas Athawale. A three-time corporator, Kambale, often raised issues pertaining to slum dwellers.
Kambale was elected as the deputy mayor of Pune in March this year.
RPI workers had forged an alliance with the BJP in Pune and Kambale was known for pushing for alliance.
While the BJP got absolute majority in Pune, it chose RPI’s Kambale for the post of deputy mayor.
