Sri Lankan detained for ‘LTTE’ link

Marimuthu Raju (35) reportedly worked at LTTE camp near Jafna in Sri Lanka for two years. Immigration officers found some fake documents with Raju when he was checking in. He was handed over to Pune police after the preliminary inquiry.

A Sri Lankan, alleged to have some connection with the LTTE, was detained at the Pune airport on Thursday afternoon while he was about to board a flight to Germany.

Marimuthu Raju (35) reportedly worked at LTTE camp near Jafna in Sri Lanka for two years. Immigration officers found some fake documents with Raju when he was checking in. He was handed over to Pune police after the preliminary inquiry.

The police said that they found a fake passport and visa with Raju, who arrived in Pune from Chennai by a train on Tuesday. He had booked a flight for Germany from Pune’s Lohegaon airport.

Raju, whose real name is Suthan Suppaih, confessed that he had worked in a LTTE camp near Jafna and also was trained in arms handling. He said that he has been staying in Chennai for more than a year. The police are currently trying to verify the information provided by him.
