Three people were arrested on Tuesday by the Central Railway Railway Protection Force (RPF) for performing Kiki challenge stunt, while the train was in motion, at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). The court has now asked the three to create a social campaign to spread awareness about the possible dangers of the act.

The video was uploaded by the accused on YouTube on July 30.

The three accused were produced in front of a metropolitan magistrate court at CSMT on Tuesday afternoon. The magistrate court acquitted the three accused after they assured the court that they would make a video creating awareness about the dangerous impact of the KiKi challenge.

The accused Ramkumar Gautam, 23, Abdul Kader Yusuf, 22, and Kanhaya Kumar, 23, were arrested under the section 144 of the Railway Act.

The three accused, according to RPF personnel, admitted to have shot the video and posted on social media. “The three have admitted that they shot the video at CSMT suburban railway station on July 29 and uploaded on a social networking site, YouTube. This was done to earn money by the number of views by their social media followers,” said a senior central railway official.

As the accused were produced in front of the magistrate court at CSMT, the court observed, “It appears from the conduct of the accused that they have done this act for immediate publicity. They have fallen prey to the present day trend of getting publicity by doing something different. The accused have contended that they have prepared an awareness video clip to desist from the dangerous Kiki challenge. The accused are called upon to do the needful in making the public aware regarding the possible danger the challenge poses and also about the penal action that comes post violation of provisions of law.”

The Kiki challenge, which has gone viral worldwide, involves getting out of a vehicle and dancing while the vehicle is in motion. It is being criticized as people are risking their lives while fulfilling the challenge.

A video had surfaced on YouTube on July 30, titled ‘Kiki challenge on Mumbai local trains’. The video started with a youth dancing in a local train compartment and getting down from the vehicle as it started moving.

The CSMT station board is visible in the background. In a second instance, the youth is seen dancing on the platform and boards a moving local train before alighting again.
