UP governor will celebrate Maharashtra Day in Lucknow

The celebrations are organised by Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh governments

Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik said that Maharashtra Day, which falls on May 1, will be celebrated in the Raj Bhavan in Lucknow. Naik, who was in Mumbai, made the announcement that the celebrations in Lucknow will last for two days – from May 1 to 2.

The celebrations are organised by Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh governments, along with Lucknow-based organisations – Maharashtra Samaj, Marathi Samaj and Bhatkhande Sangeet Vishwavidyalay.

On May 1, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath will be the chief guest at the function in Lucknow. Vinod Tawde, minister of education and Marathi language of Maharashtra will also be present at the event.

The two-day festivities will involve cultural programmes such as folk art, classical music and musical theatre that depict the rich traditions of Maharashtra.

Naik also said that he would pursue the matter of celebrating the foundation day of Uttar Pradesh, which falls on January 24, in Maharashtra.
