MUMBAI:After ire from the Opposition over photos with a criminal Baba Bodke, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis was criticized by his own party leader and rival, Eknath Khadse on Monday.

Khadse told IBN Lokmat, a Marathi news channel, that this was not the tradition of the BJP and the late Gopinath Munde and he had launched a campaign against criminalisation of politics. “It should be examined how a criminal was allowed in and got access to the CM. This is not our party’s tradition,” said Khadse, former revenue minister, who had to step down following allegations of corruption.

Bodke is an accused in four murder and has also been booked for several other offences. Fadnavis’ office had clarified the photograph was taken during the CM’s meet with Navi Mumbai-based Haware family, who had to come to invite him for an inauguration, and he had no idea of Bodke’s antecedents.
