The disciplinary action, recommended to the Board of University and College Development (BCUD), can result in the de-affiliation of these colleges.Last month, the university had sent 32 colleges a show cause notice for not sending examiners for evaluation. Colleges were given two weeks to justify the same.

With assesments falling during college vacations, there is a grave shortage in the number of teachers reporting to the university for assessment. Because of this, results of all courses are declared late, every year.

“Of the 32 colleges, only 16 have sent replies to the show cause notice, which too are not very satisfactory, but we are still looking into their reasons. The other 16 have not even bothered to reply, which is why we have recommended disciplinary action against them,” said Vilas Shinde, controller of examinations.

BUCD will decide the action to be taken against these colleges when they meet next week.
