According to an ACB release, the Borivli railway police were investigating a chain snatching case, in which they had arrested one Raju Patil, who had allegedly sold the stolen chain to the businessman. The two constables, Nilesh Devrukhkar and Sukhdev Shegar, allegedly demanded Rs25,000 from the businessman if he did not to be arrested in the case. He first gave them an installment of Rs15,000.

“When they pressurised him to pay the remaining Rs10,000, the businessman approached the ACB,” said a source from the ACB. A trap was then laid to nab them.
