At present, Metro services start at 5.30am every day at both the ends of Ghatkopar and Versova. From Saturday to Monday, however, trains will not be plying between 5.30am and 7.30am.

This means commuters will have to wait till 7.30am to take the first Metro trains at each end, on these three days.

Revenue services will also remain shut during the mega-block as a result of which commuters will not be able to purchase tickets or passes.

The operator, Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd, said regular announcements will be made inside the trains and at stations, so commuters are aware of the mega-block and can tweak their travel plans.

It is not clear if such mega -blocks will be carried out at regular intervals in future.
