2 rape cases reported in central suburbs; 1 held

Two separate incidents of rape were reported from the eastern suburbs recently.

The first incident took place in Deonar where a 32-old man allegedly raped his sister-in-law on Wednesday night.

The incident took place around 1.30am when Krishna Perumal Swami, a Chembur resident, went to his brother's Deonar residence when he wasn't home.

"Swami would often quarrel with his brother, who recently got married and had shifted to Deonar," sad sub-inspector Vikas Bharmel, Deonar police station.

"Swami was aware that his sister-in-law was alone at home. He and his friend went to the house, allegedly gagged her and then raped her," Bharmel said.

The police said they were on the lookout for Swami and his friend and accomplice Raju Nayar.

In the second incident, the Mankhurd police arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly raping his 35-year-old aunt at her residence in Lallubhai Compound in Mankhurd last week.

Senior inspector of Mankhurd police SS Rajput said, "The accused has been arrested on the charge of rape."
