'26/11 petitions will only reopen Kasab trial'

The state government, on Thursday, informed the Bombay high court that the Supreme Court has directed the high court to dispose of the several public interest litigations pertaining to steps taken by the government post the November 2008 terror attack.

The state government, on Thursday, informed the Bombay high court that the Supreme Court has directed the high court to dispose of the several public interest litigations pertaining to steps taken by the government post the November 2008 terror attack.

The HC asked the state government to provide petitioners with copies of the October 20, 2010 affidavit which stated that the purpose of appointing a committee by the high court had been fulfilled, and several other steps, too, had been taken by the government.

"The petitions must be disposed off. They are nothing but a way to reopen the Kasab trial," said public prosecutor PA Pol.
