Forensic and medical reports led to the arrest of actress Lovina Bhatia (24) by the police on Sunday on charges of murdering her co-star Kunal Singh last year.

Singh was found hanging from the ceiling fan in February last year by his associate and friend Bhatia at his Oshiwara residence. A case of suicide was lodged at that time.
Singh’s father, Rajendra, moved the HC in August 2008 seeking fresh investigation. Inspector (crime) Kalpana Gadekar, heading the investigation team submitted forensic and medical reports, indicating homicide.
Forensic evidence
About 15 questions were put forward to the accused during the polygraphic and brain-mapping tests. “She was found to be deceptive during some of the questions asked to her, indicating she has something to hide,” said Gadekar. But this evidence is not admissible in the court.
Medical evidences
In case of a suicide due to hanging, either the vertebra or the windpipe snaps. The autopsy report says neither of the two was damaged. The medical report also contradicts initial police claim that the finger marks on Singh’s arms were caused while he was being freed from the rope around his neck by officials. The report says the marks were present before he died.
