Bhiwandi collapse: Two more succumb to injuries

The death toll in the July 4 Bhiwandi garment factory collapse has gone up to eight, as two more workers succumbed to their injuries.

Israful Wakilmiya Chudihar, 24, and Mohammad Sahbuddin, 23, who were admitted to Nair Hospital at Mumbai Central, died of complications arising from multiple injuries.

Hospital officials said Chudihar died on July 6, while Sahbuddin succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning at the hospital. “Both victims had multiple injuries and excessive bleeding.

Chudihar had major injuries to his right foot, while Sahbuddin had injuries on his right hand,” said an official from the hospital.

One of the workers at the factory, Vasudeo Kundare, said, “I saw Chudihar and Sahbuddin being pulled out of the debris Both were bleeding badly and a pillar had fallen on Chudihar They were both married and had families in Nepal.”

The Narpoli police department had registered a case against six persons, which included builders Sanjay Dodhia and Hasmukh Dodhia and Prem Panjabi, owner of factory, architect Ravish Dhuru and contractors Chinna and Munshi The police had arrested Dhuru and Munshi.

The other four accused are absconding.
