The civic body’s development plan department is all set to start the acquisition process on Tuesday for a Mazgaon plot reserved as a recreation ground and has prepared all documents needed for it.

“Our actual work will start on Tuesday evening, after the proposal for acquiring the Mazgaon plot gets cleared by the civic general body meeting,” said an officer from department.

Under development rules, the plot’s owner can propose to buy the land back if the civic body fails to acquire it within a specific time frame.

On October 6, Hindustan Times had reported that seven days were left to start the process of acquiring the plot, failing which the city would lose this open space.
