Anil Anturkar, his counsel, argued that the impeachment notices could be issued only if he (Karve) had interfered with the legislative functioning of the politicians.
Karve had invalidated a caste validity certificate of one of the Zilla Parishad members belonging to the BJP. Phundkar had questioned him on his decision.
Karve has alleged that Phundkar issued him an impeachment notice because he invalidated the certificate.
Thakur issued an impeachment notice to Karve because he refused to give in to her pressures on issuing a certificate to one of her party workers. Thakur allegedly abused Karve after he refused to issue the certificate, alleges his petition.
Karve has challenged the notices in the high court.
