The deceased have been identified as Brijesh Yadav, 32, Dinesh Yadav, 35, and Mahesh Yadav, 20. They was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital at Ghatkopar but were declared dead on arrival.

The Sakinaka police said the incident took place at Ashoka Buildcon Limited, a cement-mixing plant located on Andheri-Kurla Road. The victims had returned at 2am after transporting cement to another site and were to go for another delivery in the morning. They decided to rest in the cabin of the tanker because they could not find another spot.

Around 8.30am, the tank fell. “The mixing tank fell on the tanker in which the three men were sleeping. The men were crushed to death instantly,” police inspector, Sridhar Hanchate, said.

Sources said the four pillars on which the mixing tank was standing had worn out because they were always under water. “We have registered a case of accidental death. However, we are conducting investigations into the case to see if there was negligence on the part of any person,” Hanchate said.
