On Thursday, the civic body pulled down 2,684 banners and posters, of which 2,130 were of political parties.

“We will not be allowing any political banners or posters from now onwards. Earlier, we used to give permissions to a few of them, but this will completely stop,” said Mohan Adtani, additional municipal commissioner.

Adtani said the BMC was in the process of drafting a new standard operating procedure to do away with all kinds of banners and posters.

“We are studying various models and trying to come up with select social and religious events where banners and posters will be allowed. However, nothing of a political nature will be permitted.”
