Seema Madhve (20), a resident of Konkan Nagar in Andheri (East), failed her class 12 exams in March and had reappeared in October.

After the examinations, she repeatedly told her parents that she doubted whether she would be able to pass. On Sunday, she had gone to her relatives’ house in Dindoshi to spend a few days with them. On Tuesday after dinner, she consumed insecticide and was rushed to Bhagwati Hospital where she was declared dead before admission.

“We have not found any suicide note. The girl’s parents told us that she would often tell them that she feared that she would fail in the re-examination and was depressed because of that. We suspect that could be reason behind the incident. We do not suspect any foul play,” said Vinayak Kakade of Dindoshi police station.

The police have registered a case of accidental death.
