“Three patients have various fractures while the others have superficial wounds,” said Dr Preeti Mehta, acting dean, KEM Hospital.

By late evening, all of them were shifted to Jaslok Hospital, Peddar Road.

“The condition of all the patients is stable and only one will require a surgery. As of now, all are under observation,” Dr (Col) RR Pulgaonkar, CEO, Jaslok Hospital.

According to officials, the two victims of the the collapse, Amruta Shukla, 29, and Manoj Shukla, 44, were working on the second floor of the building.

They were taken to the hospital with multiple injuries and were declared dead on arrival. Amruta’s colleagues said she worked at the Dolvi project in Pen and had come to the Lower Parel office to complete year-ending work.

“She was an extremely hardworking girl,” said an HR executive from JSW steel who escaped from the building as soon as the news of cracks spread.

“Many employees ignored the warnings and continued to work,” said a consultant to the company, who was sitting next to Amruta.

When the incident occurred, Manoj, who worked in the company’s sales tax department, was busy discussing work with another colleague, Prakash Nambi.

“Manoj and I were discussing work, when suddenly the ceiling fell,” said Nambi, who suffered a fracture in his right wrist.

Manoj’s body will be taken to his Nashik home for the last rites. He is survived by his wife and two children.
