The police said the accused, Rajendra Waghale, 45, was acting as a broker to sell three houses located at Sion Koliwada.
“While selling the houses, Waghale informed the buyers — Vijay Karalkar, Santosh Mayekar (both servicemen) and Yashoda Patil, a flower seller — that the houses had basic facilities like electricity and water supply. However, when the buyers moved in a month back, the facilities were found to be lacking,” said an officer from the Dadar police station talking on condition of anonymity because he is not authorised to speak to the media.
When Waghale refused to pay any heed to their complaints, the trio approached the Dadar police. On Wednesday, the police registered a case against Waghale and his wife under section 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention).
Assistant commissioner of police (Dadar division), Madhukar Sankhe said, “Waghale has been arrested on the charge for cheating.”
An officer said basic facilities have not yet been reinstated at the complainants’ houses.
