The railway police said that Sandip Suryawanshi had boarded a CST-bound slow train from Kurla when he lost balance while alighting and fell.

He had suffered multiple fractures and head injuries. “He was rushed to KEM Hospital but was declared dead on arrival,” said Senior Inspector S. Shinde of Dadar railway police.

Suryawanshi, who was from Sangli, had completed his training from Nashik, joined duty 15 days ago. He stayed alone in the police quarters at Parel.

Suryawanshi’s body has been handed over to his parents, Shinde added.
