Kwatra was found murdered at Wilderness apartments in Borivli on Friday. “We have recorded statements of the 35 aspiring models. We are also questioning Kwatra’s assistant, who had left the place for lunch when the incident occurred. Four teams comprising five officers each are pursuing different leads on the case,” said an official from the MHB Colony police.

According to the police, Kwatra’s post-mortem report has revealed that he was smothered to death. The police suspect that the duo, whose sketches have been prepared, might have entered the spot with some other intention. “The accused had not come prepared for the crime. The clothes used to tie his hands were picked up from the studio. But, as Kwatra raised an alarm, the accused might have panicked,” said the official.

Kwatra had recently sold a bungalow to someone and was to receive Rs30 lakh as token on Friday. Based on the statements of the women, the police have learnt that several people were aware of the deal. The police suspect the killers, too, must have known about it.
