Engineer who duped women arrested

The Matunga police have arrested a 30-year-old IT engineer who speaks fluent English and showed off stolen cars as his own, to women he met on matrimonial sites. He would floor them with a show of sophistication and spend their money before vanishing.

The Matunga police have arrested a 30-year-old IT engineer who speaks fluent English and showed off stolen cars as his own, to women he met on matrimonial sites. He would floor them with a show of sophistication and spend their money before vanishing.

He has duped at least five women, including two doctors. SK Ramdas, assistant inspector of Matunga police, said Rahul Patil, a Satara native, took to stealing cars when he could not get a high-paying job despite his qualifications. “He would steal cars and then look for women on matrimonial sites. He would target professionals, especially doctors, knowing they would have money to spend,” Ramdas said.

In the latest incident, Patil duped a city doctor, who had given an advertisement in the matrimonial column of a newspaper.
