Zagade’s transfer within eight months of being appointed transport commissioner had kicked up a controversy because he had cracked down on the nexus between agents and sections of staff at RTOs.

Zagade’s senior, state transport minister Diwakar Raote had openly contradicted the former over the issue of agents.

However, Fadnavis said: “We have no differences with the bureaucrats. In the case of Zagade, he came to me with this request and wanted to do some good work at the PMRDA.”

He claimed talks about differences between bureaucrats and ministers were just rumours.
