The move seems like he is wooing voters for the 2012 civic polls. On Monday, Shinde also launched a programme called ‘BEST aplya dari’. As part of this programme, Shinde, accompanied by officials from the traffic and electricity department, visited BEST commuters and electricity consumers.

Shinde accepted 30-35 complaints and promised to take it to the committee level for discussion. Shinde also promised schemes such as introducing drop boxes for cheques in mobile vans dedicated for electricity bills and a new bus stop in front of the Dr Shirodkar High School at Parel.

“This way, I can provide a platform for people to directly interact with us and we can solve their grievances,” said Shinde. “I will travel to the rest of the city as well. My plan is to visit one area every week. I will visit Goregaon next. The schedule will depend on who invites us and when,” said Shinde.
