In their meeting with chief minister Prithviraj Chavan on Friday, producers and directors led by Yash Chopra and Mahesh Bhatt agreed to be part of a working group to achieve the expansion.
The CM’s office did not comment on the issue because Chavan wants to take up the matter to his cabinet colleagues before making an announcement.
Bhatt said that the CM discussed the formation of the working group. “We talked of taking the film industry to the coastal areas where we have beautiful locations.”
Bhatt said the delegation apprised CM of several issues in the film industry. ‘We want the CM to revive one of the state’s prime property of Film City which in a shambles now.”
Film producers sought the CM’s intervention to abolish entertainment tax by 2012, which will be India cinema’s centenary year. dharmendra jore
