Ganesh mandals across the city are getting web savvy. Several of them will launch their websites and blogs as they install their idols on Saturday.

They hope, the organisers say, to increase their reach, get more recognition and attract more funding through an effective online presence.

So far, only a handful of mandals, such as Lalbaugcha Raja, had websites. Parel’s Tejukaya Ganeshotsav Sarvajanik Trust will be among those that go online on Saturday.

“We didn’t want to be left behind,” said Mangesh Patade, secretary of the 43-year-old mandal.

Girgaum’s KDGB Nivas Sarvajanik mandal has launched a blog.

“We want more people to know of our efforts,” said Avadhut Gavhankar, president of the mandal.
