Sunil Poojary, her boyfriend, told the police that after ignoring a few calls, he fell asleep after setting his cellphone on silent mode.
“When I woke up and called her back, she didn’t answer… later I found out she’d committed suicide,” Poojary said in his statement to the police. Kunnadat, who worked in the call centre of a cellular service provider, hanged herself from the ceiling of her rented flat at Malvani in Malad.
Poojary, who works with Thane-based Voltas, added that Kunnadat – they were to marry after Diwali – was short-tempered and had attempted suicide on two earlier occasions by consuming sleeping pills.
Kunnadat and Poojary had got acquainted four years ago when Poojary had called her call centre to get something resolved.
