Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde’s daughters, Pankaja and Pritam met with an accident late Friday night when a biker hit them as they were walking towards a car near Worli Seaface.

The biker, identified as Shyamsunder Murti Pillai (20), a student, was arrested by the Worli police.

Pankaja, who is an MLA from Beed, and her younger sister Pritam Munde are recuperating at Lilavati Hospital at Bandra (West) where they were rushed after sustaining injuries on the head and back.

Hospital authorities said they were out of danger.

The incident took place barely a few metres from Poorna Apartment on Sir Pochkanwala Road where the Munde family lives.

* According to senior police inspector, Bharat Worlikar, “The incident took place between 11.45 pm and 12 am when Pankaja and Pritam were walking towards a car that was to take them to the residence of their relative and BJP member, Poonam Mahajan.”
