Harassed on flight, crew didn’t help: Woman flier

A woman travelling on a Jet Airways flight from Mumbai has alleged a drunk co-traveller misbehaved with her, and the crew did not help her despite several complaints.

According to a complaint sent to the airline, the incident took place on board an Abu-Dhabi-bound flight. Nupura Hautamaki has alleged her ordeal began soon after the flight took off.
“This man kept trying to put his hands through my seat and touch me inappropriately. He kicked my seat really hard multiple times throughout the flight,” the complaint said.
Hautamaki added all her requests for a change of seat, or for the crew to admonish the man, went unanswered.
After reaching Abu Dhabi, the airline crew was reluctant to help her file a police complaint, Hautamaki alleged. “A junior ground staff was put on the job, who just took me around counters, asking people what to do. After a frustrating hour, I realised they were least interested in helping me, and left,” she said.
A Jet Airways spokesperson confirmed the incident, but did not comment on the allegations about the crew.
“A Jet Airways guest booked for travel from Mumbai to Abu Dhabi complained about inappropriate behaviour by a co-passenger. In keeping with the safety regulations, representatives of the airline handed the matter over to the airport police on arrival at Abu Dhabi. Jet Airways regrets any inconvenience,’ said the spokesperson.
