The investigation wing of the I-T department conducted searches at 18 places belonging to Akbar Travels of India Private Limited, Riya Travels and Tours, and Fourways Travels Private Limited.

BP Gaur, director general, investigation, I-T Mumbai, confirmed searches on the three travel companies.

Sources in I-T department said that Fourways was searched after they got information that the travel company had taken payment in cash from several Haj pilgrims.

"However, the company did not reflect the cash payments taken, in the account books to avoid paying tax on the same," an officer said.

The other two travel companies are also suspected to have done the same thing.
