The incident took place last night when one Sayed, who was being treated at the hospital, died following which his relatives manhandled Dr Prashant Bhand, alleging negligence on his part.
They subsequently ransacked a hospital ward, police said.
Demanding "basic security and complete protection" protesting doctors said that JJ being a model hospital, attending to large number of emergency cases on a daily basis, needs to be shielded from such kind of attacks.
The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) representatives are meeting the Dean to discuss the security issues following which further course of action will be decided, they said.
All doctors have, however, reported on duty but the Out Patient Department (OPD) remained closed in protest of the incident.
Two persons-- Feroze Abdul and Habib Mobin, were arrested last night in connection with the incident, police said.
