Joint commissioner of police, crime, Himanshu Roy said the team would take the main accused Parvez Tak with them.
Crime branch officers said there were many loose ends to be tightened. They said Tak had told them he had thrown away cellphones and money purses belonging to the family into nullahs in the area.
“Though the murders took place a long time ago, we will try and collect as much evidence as possible and also re-examine the crime scene to build a strong case,” an officer said.
The officers said there were various points in Tak’s statements that the team would have to verify at the farmhouse. The police are also looking for a locker that Laila maintained in a city bank that Tak mentioned in his statement. Officials said they were trying to ascertain if anything was missing from it.
On July 10, the police recovered six skeletons from a pit at the Khan family’s farmhouse. The police had also recovered two knives and a rod, which Tak and his accomplice Shabir Hussein from J&K used to kill the family.
