“His one hand and leg; and a part of his head were found. The family identified the boy’s bloodstained shirt lying nearby,” said SK Bichkar, police inspector, Aarey police station. “A preliminary medical report reveals a leopard killed the boy. We also found panther hair on his shirt.”

The police had been looking for Sunny after his father Sanjay, a hawker, had lodged a complaint the night he went missing. “We searched for the boy everywhere. A local saw the boy’s body parts in the bushes behind his shanty and alerted us,” said Ashok Kamble, police sub inspector at the Aarey police station.
