The man, Bhaskar More, claimed the gang forced him into a car and after driving him around for some time, dumped him and escaped with the money. The DB Marg police are, however, suspicious of his claims, as there are several loopholes in his statement.

More said the four accused drove him around in south Mumbai and assaulted him.

“But, More couldn’t tell us the exact spot where he was picked up from and couldn’t answer several other questions. He also began answering evasively,” said Ajit Surve, senior inspector, DB Marg police.

Krishna Prakash, additional commissioner of police (south region), “More is the prime suspect in the incident.”
