Shrikant Rajram Sarmok-adam, 57, had received bribe to allow construction of the building, police said. His name was found on the list of recipients of bribe in the builders' diary, a senior crime branch officer told HT.

On April 4, a seven-storeyed illegal building had collapsed at Shil-Phata killing 74 people and injuring 64 others.
