The party is in controversy as five senior police personnel have been suspended for attending the same and allegedly dancing in it. Mary Paulson was the president of the South Central Mumbai Mahila Parishad.

“They have maligned the party image. NCP doesn’t tolerate any such associations with the underworld. They have been expelled,’’ said Madan Bafna, party spokesperson.

The unit headed by Mary Paulson has been dissolved.

Senior party functionaries said that the couple had recently joined the party and were not well known in the cadre. The NCP action comes in the wake of media reports that the Paulsons hosted the party and that Joseph was an alleged Rajan gang member.

The party caught media limelight as it was also attended by police officials. The five policemen who allegedly attended the party have been suspended.
