Said a local from Temkar street where Dawood's sister Haseena Parker resides, "Twenty years is a long time. While the judgement was being pronounced, and even afterwards, there was absolutely no reaction amongst the people."

Another local said, "Only the families of three persons from the area who were acquitted were in a joyous mood. Apart from that, there was no visible display of emotion."

A shopkeeper from the area who did not wish to be identified said, "Why should we be concerned with the judgement. It changes nothing for us. We are more concerned about earning our bread and butter. People have changed, so have mindsets. They are more interested in a better future than looking at the past."

Another local however complained, "The action taken in the case is unfair. If the judgement in the 1993 blasts has come, they should also have expedited the judgement in the rioting that took place before the blasts as well.
