Vishal, in his petition, said the "crime was to harass and pressurise him for marriage after his parents did not accept their two-year relationship."

Vishal claimed that if there was a physical relationship between them, "it was by consent and was within the knowledge of both the families."

The victim told the police that Vishal entered into a physical relationship allegedly after promising her marriage.

Later Vishal backed off from the promise and even threatened to throw acid on the victim's face.
