Stating that Dr Singh's economics was not working for the country, MP and BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain alleged that the government had brought the country to the brink of a financial bankruptcy.

"Manmohan Singh is a renowned economist. But today his economics is not making any impact for the country," Hussain said, addressing a press conference ahead of BJP's national executive in the city, slated for 24th and 25th of this month.

"There is a financial crisis in the country. And government cannot escape from (liability for) the financial crisis. The government cannot give the excuse of financial crisis in the rest of the world. The country is facing this because of the wrong policies of Manmohan Singh government."

He said that as a responsible opposition, BJP was ready to support the government in tackling the situation, but "they did not accept it".
