Police arrest woman with charas worth Rs 1.25 lakh

The Kandivli unit of the Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) arrested a 45-year-old woman carrying 1.25kg charas worth Rs 1.25 lakh and Rs 1,250 cash on Wednesday.

"We had received a tip off that a woman would be coming to a bus stop at Malwani carrying drugs on Wednesday," said an ANC officer on condition of anonymity.

The police team came waited at the spot till around 2pm when Meena Khan, 45, was spotted near the bus stop close to Idgah ground at Malwani.

"We approached and questioned her. Her answers were evasive. Following this we conducted a search and found 1.25kg charas and Rs1250 cash on her person," the officer added.

Following this the police arrested Khan under sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police are questioning her further to find out the source whom the drugs were meant for.
