“The Tamil Nadu government spent Rs 350 crore for the convention and everything took place smoothly. Here with regards to Marathi literary meet, we see only controversies all around,” said Thackeray. He said even Oscar winner music director A. R. Rehman shared the stage with the Tamil Nadu chief minister Karunanidhi. “Here we have squatting before the event, during and even after the event,” rued Thackeray. Thackeray was speaking at the book release of journalist Raju Parulekar at a function at Bandra.

He criticised CM Ashok Chavan for his grant of Rs 10 crore for the special department formed for the promotion of the Marathi Language. “The Tamil Nadu government has earmarked Rs 350 crore for their language to spread it while our state has kept such a small amount which would hardly cover the expenses for foundation stone ceremony," he added.
