On Tuesday, Mohamed Feroz Shaikh alias Bhanja was arrested by the Kurla railway police while he was trying to rob a mobile phone by hitting a commuter in a train with a stick.

“Bhajna does not have a family and lives in Sable Nagar area near Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Kurla. He usually targets women commuters,” said Shivaji Dhumal, senior inspector, Kurla railway police.

The railway police had received a tip-off that Bhanja was standing near the railway tracks.

“Bhanja is notorious amongst policemen. He had once chased a police constable with a chopper. He is known for throwing any object he can lay his hands on when confronted by policemen. Luckily this time he was not armed,” said Dhumal.
