The body was found by her daughter, Asha, who informed the police.

The woman has been identified as Lilavati Yadav, 60, who had been hit on the head with a grinding stone.

According to the police, initial investigations revealed that Lilavati’s daughter was in a relationship with a man. However, Lilavati was opposed to the relationship as she thought the man was not worthy of her daughter.

The police suspect that this could be the motive behind the crime. The police are questioning the family members, relatives and neighbours of the deceased woman about whether anyone had witnessed the crime or seen the accused.

The police said initial investigations also revealed that an unknown youth had approached Lilavati and said that he wanted to marry her daughter. When she refused, he hit her with the grinding stone and fled from the spot. Lilavati’s daughter allegedly heard her mother screaming and rushed outside and found her lying in a pool of blood. She immediately rushed her mother to the hospital.

Rajendra Thakur, senior police inspector of Kasturba police station, said, “We have registered a case of murder against an unidentified person. We are trying to probe all angles.”
