This is one of the various reforms the council has introduced for PGDM courses in December. In Mumbai, there are around 19 institutes, including SP Jain at Andheri and Welingkars Institute of Management at Matunga, which offer the PGDM course and cater to more than 2,400 students.

Across the state, 63 institutes offer the course. “We will give a model curriculum that will ensure that there is a certain standard and quality in the syllabus,” said Prabhat Sahoo, director, AICTE, western region.

“Also, the examination pattern will be given by the council,” said Sahoo added. “Colleges, of course, can improvise on the curriculum and pattern as they require.” But colleges are no too happy about this interference in the curriculum. Currently, institutes can decide their own academic structure.
