Three drunk Navymen have been arrested for molesting three teenagers in Colaba on Sunday.

The sailors — Animesh Thakur (26), Bhagat Singh Virendra Singh (26) and Gangadhar Pushwa (28) – are posted at INS Pralay in Dockyard.
The incident took place around 1 am as a group of friends – two boys and three girls – stepped out of Regal cinema after watching the last show of Dabangg. The five teenagers, all residents of the area, were walking home when the sailors made offensive remarks about the girls. “The group walked past,” said Iqbal Shaikh, assistant commissioner of police (Colaba division).
When they stopped at an ATM centre opposite the theatre, the sailors misbehaved with the girls. “There was a violent tiff and the sailors started hitting the two boys,” said Shaikh. “The sailors were under the influence of alcohol.”
A police patrol van was passing by and six policemen tried to stop the fight, but the sailors started hitting them as well.
“The policemen called for back-up and we arrested the sailors,” Shaikh said.
Captain Manohar Nambiar, chief public relations officer, defence ministry, Mumbai, said: “All three sailors are in naval custody. An investigation will be conducted into the alleged act of molestation and manhandling police personnel.”
