The police said the accused, posing as workers, brought along a key maker.

The accused told the watchman on duty that their boss had asked them to fetch some logistics. “They even made the watchman talk with someone over the phone,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Banerjee.

They fled with 21 laptops from the repair shop.

During investigation, the police questioned more than 30 people and found that Prakash Kasbe and Rakesh Gurav — two workers who were previously employed with the shop — had planned to steal the laptops.

The third accused, who aided the duo, has been identified as Subhash Jadhav.
